A few weeks ago I shared with my son that I had planned to raise him as a vegetarian. This is not news to him; he knows how the story goes. When he was about 9 months old my sorority sister baby sat him and the next thing I know this happened, see exhibit 1 below. She claims that she was feeding her niece (cutie pie in the pic) and he reached for her chicken wing and tore it up. Fast forward a few months; my son was spending time with his grandparents and sure enough chicken was on the menu.
Even though my early goal for his diet was railroaded, my son to this day does not consume a lot of meat. Most of his meals are meat free, his choice. So back to my conversation with him a few weeks ago, I mentioned to him that we should switch to a vegetarian diet and he was all for it. It’s been two weeks and so far so good. I’ve collected a few cook books over the years that I’m using as a guide but for the most part I’m letting my stomach decide what’s for dinner.
