Spring is here and I love all the fresh new colors and bold accessories women and men are wearing. There’s so many eye catching and flattering pieces I can’t wait to incorporate into my wardrobe.
There is just one problem, I don’t wear jewelry! I don’t even wear a watch.
Sometimes when I am wearing a really cute outfit I still feel plain, like I blend right into the crowd. Blending into the crowd is not in my personality. Still, I just feel like there’s still something missing- that oomph, that wow factor, that pizazz and jazz, that swagger. You get what I’m saying. So how does one accessorizes without jewelry? I had to think of accessories as just that, accessories, not the main course but a tease on the way there. And that translated to head wraps, head bands, decorative head clips, funky and fresh make-up, stunner sun glasses, scarfs, purses, divalicious gloves, belts, and fly foot wear. Of course I don’t wear these all at once but when added to a really cute outfit, I instantly upgrade to chic.
In the past I have played it very safe as far as my color palette, but now I’m ready to take control of my appearance and present myself with a more famine and softer appeal. Good bye black, neutral and gray and say hello to teal, yellow, reds, oranges, greens and whites.
I’m still having a blast thrifting. I love everything and anything vintage. It also works well for my wallet. Here are some photos from this months O magazine, grab your copy today and be inspired.
#takemyfoolishadvice and give your wardrobe a shot in the arm with some accessories and bold colors this season. But most of all have tons of fun doing it.

If I had to describe my style in words I would lean towards “modern” “chic” “sophisticated” “eclectic” “comfortable” “mysteriously sexy” and most importantly “timeless”. These words describe everything from my wardrobe aesthetic to my interior design style. Through the years my style has taken on many faces. I matured from an adolescent bell bottom appearance to a sexy college co-ed to parent to business professional. My style has been the poorest and best representation of me. Now entering my 30′s my style is evolving yet again but this time I am not as confident about its direction. A lot has changed over the years and my weight and shape are no exceptions. My quest is to discover an everyday age appropriate style that compliments my figure and personality. In the Style Notice section I will try to capture my journey. Enjoy and be sure to chime in with your own style tips and tricks.

I had a meeting to attend after hours and this is what I wore. I felt comfortable and stylish. My faux snake skin Jessica Simpson platform shoes gave me the height and sexy I needed to pull of the indigo jeans. They also elongated my legs.
Happy New Year!
It’s January 1, 2012 and I am so excited to be alive and well; beginning a new year with friends and family that I love and adore. I hope that you all had a safe and great New Year’s Eve. I spent all day and night at church. Can I just say AWESOME! I finished the night off at an intimate party with friends. I will share with you all in another post the message the pastor delivered. Right now, as promised I wanted to bring to you what I wore. As a reminder this year I am only reusing, repurposing and recycling items already in my wardrobe. I really loved my outfit but I would be lying if I said I was 100% confident in it. Although it is a clear reflection of my personality I was a tad bit concerned with the fit. Any way here it is in all of its luster. The full look from head to toe: A crisp white ruffled long sleeve button down, black patent leather belt, my revamped high waist puffy skirt finished with black patent leather 5 inch Mary Jane stilettoes. I pulled my hair back into a high bun and kept my make-up fairly simple with purple eye shadow and violet lips. The discovery of “my style” continues…

The goal next year is not to purchase any clothing at retail cost. Instead I will only be revamping items currently in my wardrobe and thrifing for new ones. I am so not the trendy dresser plus I’m still discovering/defining my fashion style. Need I mention we are still struggling to get out of one of the worse economic recessions and being frugal is actually a method of survival.
Sooo… what am I planning to do you may ask? I plan to revamp this beautiful black skirt that has been in my closet for a few years and “make it work” (in my Tim Gunn voice). My style inspiration is Bee, author of the Pacific-Atlantic blog. I think this look is clean, chic and glitzy enough for a New Year’s party. I’ll post pics of my final recreated outfit to get your feedback. Wish me luck!
Do you have plans for New Year’s, what will you be wearing? Take my foolish advice and start in your closet first and if you get stuck ask a friend to select an outfit for you. They may pair something together that you may have not considered. Good luck dolls.
P.S Here is the finished outfit. Enjoy!
